Day 2 of renovations

So, yesterday we closed on our house shortly after 1:30PM. By 7pm we had already begun ripping out the bathroom, tearing up carpet, and getting one bedroom ready to paint. We found some surprises yesterday such as an adult film in the kitchen ceiling, urine in the trap for the bathtub (ewwww!), mold in the bathroom walls, and our neighbor let us know there was a squirrel living up in our attic. Oh well, what do you expect when you take on a project? Day 2 was pretty non-eventful in comparison. No adult films. I was able to get 2 coats of paint on the ceiling in the girls' room, boys' room is washed and ready to paint, and Joe kept going with the demolition in the bathroom. All of this with 4 kids in tow (one strapped to my back). We called it quits for the day when Joe got rained on by mystery animal poo in the bathroom. We have decided it would be wise to keep the children out of the house until that is cleaned up since we don't know what kind of poo it is, but it is dry to a fine powder at this point and I don't want them inhaling it. Anyhow, here are some photos of the improvements we made today:

  1. When Steph was redoing there old house they found old playboys hidden in the ceiling of their basement. Must be a popular place to hid porn. :)

  2. It seems so bizarre to me to find it in the kitchen ceiling. Now I am going to be curious anytime I see a drop ceiling as to what might be hiding up there!

  3. My coworker in HS hid the drugs he was selling in the drop ceiling in his room along with the drug money and his digital scale. I think it's a popular place to hide just about anything light enough!

  4. Joe checked the rest of the tiles. No drug money. Darn, that could have come in handy to pay for new windows.
