Vote on how to decorate our stairs
I would love to hear input. I have big plans for our stairs that involve Modge Podge and awesome pictures put onto the kickplate of each stair. Trouble is, I am having a hard time deciding on a theme of awesomeness. What would you do? We are a fun, laid back kind of family. We take nothing seriously. With that in mind, here are some of the ideas:

Ooh, I like the idea of retro advertisements. Bonus points if they come from a similar era as your house was built.
ReplyDeleteWe are planning/hoping to do something I saw on Pinterest, of painting the kickplates to look like stacked books. Each one being the spine of a favorite book.
Are there many 1890 advertisements? :)
DeleteWhen you complete your stairs, I want to see a picture! Have you thought about what books you will do?
Oh, you could print off old Sears Roebuck catalogs from the 1890s. Google it and plenty of sources come up. Actually, the Google image search for "advertising 1890s" is pretty sweet looking, too. I may steal this one if we end up with an older house.
ReplyDeleteI think kids' art would be awesome---a little history project right there, and then when your nest is empty, if you're still in that house, you can gaze at those clean clean stairs and remember the olden days.
ReplyDeleteWe made a list the same night I got the idea... sort of in order of importance, but also with more kid-focused books at the top, since the stairs go to the play room.
ReplyDeleteMade a very good list.
Now... I wonder where the hell we put it?
Ah-HA! Dh actually remembered what month we saw that stairs idea, so I found my book list on FB. Oy! We went with iconic books and stuff that really was important to us. From the top of the stairs down:
ReplyDeleteWhere The Wild Things Are
Peter Pan
Horton Hears a Who
The Secret Garden
The Princess Bride
Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone
Good Omens
World War Z
The Great Shark Hunt
Pride & Prejudice
The Hobbit
Cosmos
The Cathedral and The Bazaar
The Good Soldiers
